Amanda Maraist is a movement deviser, improviser + performer from the Texas Gulf Coast. She performs in Chicago with Khecari, and acts as an operations assistant for the company. She also participates in other collaborative processes with local musicians and artists. Her personal work aims to incite coincidences + accidents, irreverence, and a sense of place through authentic movement. She is currently in research with Michael Macdonald (musician) and several movement artists on a new work titled sounds from another room, which excavates the phenomenon of nostalgic synesthesia through sound, touch and smell.
