Khecari will be participating in Cultivator, a Residency located in Wilmington, Vermont. Wilmington sits at the spoke of the wheel which connects the arts communities of Bennington, Dover, Dorset, Brattleboro and North Adams Massachusetts. In operation since 2014, Cultivator has hosted performing and visual artists in a pilot way to learn what shape is best to welcome creatives to the woods to make space for strategic planning, artistic production and space for dreaming and tinkering. In 2019 the program made invitations to 30 artists and collaborative groups and will host 10 sessions over the course of the summer. Curated by Anna Drozdowski, this collection of disparate communities will gather this year to spend time alone and in conversation across disciplines through self-guided time, communal cooking, walks in the woods and back-porch conversations drawing from the work of Artists U and Drozdowski’s 20 years of experience as a producer of time-based art. Cultivator’s studio space is provided by Memorial Hall, the town’s 200-seat theater. This residency will also engage the “summer locals” in our process — both residents and visitors can be organized as desired for studio visits, showings, works-in-progress performances etc.
